Prep those unibrows. The FruitFlyLife Backyard Bash is returning for its second installment of the summer season.
While the Inaugural BBQ brought out the tropical, Tiki-inspired side of the pineapple, this event is all about the pineapple in the Mexican heat. Imagine street vendors pushing pineapples on pedestrians and drivers alike, aloe pants that awkwardly look like overgrown pineapple tops, and pineapple/cactus combinations that are reminiscent of a rainbow Sarape.
The reasoning for the Mexican inspired theme? On August 21, in a civil ceremony in the town hall of Coyoacán, Frida Kahlo became Diego Rivera’s third wife. Diego was 42 years old, 6’1″ tall, and 300 pounds; Frida was 22, 5’3″ tall and only 98 pounds. We shall be celebrating this union.
Please come dressed as a Mexican iconic artist of choice (or at least bring some salsa). I shall be cooking exclusively from the Frida Kahlo cookbook and many many bowls of Sangria shall be served.
